With everything happening in the world, I want to acknowledge that therapy does not exist in a vacuum. As a white therapist, I am committed to maintaining inclusivity and cultural competency as core priorities in my work. I recognize the impact of systemic oppression, generational trauma, and the unique challenges that come with navigating the world in different identities and experiences. My goal is to provide a space where you feel seen, heard, and valued—without judgment.
If we work together, know that I will continue to listen, learn, and challenge my own biases to show up for you in the most affirming and supportive way possible. Healing is deeply personal, and you deserve a therapist who respects and honors your lived experiences.
In solidarity,
Kat
About Me
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, National Certified Counselor, and clinical supervisor licensed to practice counseling to individuals in Louisiana, Texas, and Colorado. I received my Master of Arts in Counseling from Louisiana Tech University in 2014. Prior to a counseling degree, I received a Bachelor of Fine Arts.
I am originally from a small town in North Louisiana, but I have always identified as a city person. I currently reside in Austin, TX after living and working in New Orleans, LA for almost a decade.
As a therapist, I take a relational approach. That means I believe healing happens in relationships—including the one we build together in therapy. I’ll show up as a real person in the room with you, not a blank slate. That might look like gently offering my perspective, naming patterns I notice, or sharing something from my experience if it feels helpful. The goal is always to create a space where you feel seen, understood, and safe enough to explore whatever brought you here. Therapy with me is collaborative, down-to-earth, and rooted in mutual respect. You don’t have to perform or have it all figured out. We’ll figure it out together.
When I’m not working, I enjoy doing anything creative, spending time with my partner, weightlifting, yoga, getting tattooed, catching up on TV or movies, browsing Reddit, napping, hiking, hanging with my cats, and thrifting.
Meet the team:
I believe that animals are a significant and powerful resource for humans. Our pets are our confidantes, our companions, and our family. Although they do not attend in-person therapy sessions, my pets are an integral part of the work that I do.
“Animals are such agreeable friends-they ask no questions, they pass no criticisms.” - George Eliot
